• Rapid freezing of fish, shellfish, meat, and poultry into blocks.
• Processing of vegetables and fruits for extended preservation.
• Block freezing of liquids, by-products, and offal for pet food manufacturing.
• Industrial-scale freezing where product quality and texture retention are critical.

Freezing method

Double contact freezing, typically 30% faster than traditional blast freezing for this class of equipment.

Block sizes

This unit accommodates block sizes such as 40x60x7.5 cm and 82x60x7.5 cm. Other vertical plate freezers commonly handle similar or custom dimensions.

Product types

Suitable for a wide range of products including whole fish, fillets, minced meat, purees, and various liquid products.

Freezing time

Typically achieves rapid freezing times due to direct contact, preserving product quality.

Footprint

Vertical plate freezers generally offer a compact footprint relative to their freezing capacity compared to horizontal alternatives.

Power supply

Units of this type commonly require a robust industrial electrical supply, typically 3-phase, with specific voltage and amperage to be confirmed by the seller.

• What are the main advantages of vertical plate freezers?

Vertical plate freezers offer fast, economical freezing of large quantities by direct contact, which preserves product quality, taste, texture, and nutritional value more effectively than some other methods.

• Can these freezers handle different product types?

• How does double contact freezing work?

• What maintenance is typically required for a used plate freezer?

• Are spare parts readily available for DSI V5 models?

Plate freezers are valued for their efficiency in rapid product freezing across food processing applications. Buyers typically appreciate their compact footprint and consistent performance. When purchasing used equipment, inspecting plate condition for corrosion or damage is essential, as worn plates reduce freezing efficiency. Key strengths include reliable operation, relatively straightforward maintenance requirements, and suitability for batch processing. Industry sentiment favours models from established manufacturers with documented service histories. Buyers should verify refrigeration system integrity and confirm spare parts availability before committing to purchase.
